This is the 24th all-time meeting between the two teams with UMBC holding an 18-15 advantage. Last season the Retrievers won both meetings.  Binghamton defeated UMBC in the 2009 America East Championship game played at the Events Center.  Binghamton earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament with that victory.  Duke defeated the Bearcats at Greensboro, North Carolina in the first round of that event.
