Binghamton Police Close Main Street After Report of Shots Fired
A section of Main Street on Binghamton's West Side was shut down by city police following a report that a man had fired a gun at other people.
Investigators were trying to determine exactly what happened in the area of 201 Main Street around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Police were sent there after receiving a call reporting shots had been fired.
An initial search of the area by patrol officers turned up no indication that anyone had been injured.
Police closed Main Street between Beethoven and Schiller as detectives searched for evidence and interviewed people in the area.
Investigators were observed on Hamilton Street as they worked to ascertain whether the possible shooter fled in that direction.
Main Street was reopened to traffic just before 3:30 p.m.
