It's awesome when our community can come together to help our people in need. Recently we told you the story of a friend of mine, Ed Leonard, and Ripics Carousel Lanes.

I've known Ed for most of my adult life and he is very active in the community and is a man with a big heart. Whether it was giving line dance lessons to pandemic home-schooled kids or helping a young girl get a balloon ride at Spiediefest, he wanted to make a difference for kids.

Then on December 21st, 2020, this father of a young daughter suffered a severe stroke. He spent weeks in the hospital before being transferred to Binghamton General for physical and occupational therapy.

On February 10th, he was released for outpatient therapy but nothing has been easy. His insurance didn't take effect until January 1st and his mom, Tricia has been filling out paperwork and doing everything that she can to get Ed the best care possible.

Bowling Fundraiser

While all this is going on, his bills continue to pile up, so Ripics Carousel Lanes in Binghamton is helping Ed out. It's the Bar Challenge on Sunday, April 11th at 1 p.m. as they are raising the bar for what they can raise for Ed.

By the way, if you have a bowling team that is interested, contact Ripics Carousel Lanes. No team but you want to help out? No problem, stop by during the event and help them raise the bar

I know that if this happened to me, that Ed, his daughter Mackenzie and his family would do what they could to help me and I want to help them out. This is a chance to pull together and knock down some pins while helping a good man.
