As New Yorkers Are Stuck Indoors, More Are Adopting Pets
Need a change of pace while being stuck inside? Maybe adopt a pet? That seems to be what a lot of New Yorkers are doing. Pets can provide some great company at a time when so many people are socially isolated.
LoHud is reporting that many in New York are adopting or fostering pets during a time when people may be feeling lonely and detached from the world. Others are working from home, and may need something to relieve stress. Pet Rescue's social media coordinator, Barbara Gebala said:
So many people in our community have reached out to help with fostering and adopting. It's just incredible! Even some of our long-timers are getting interest, which is so nice to see.
Some other rescue organizations are reporting that they're getting dozens of applications a day. Many of these groups are closed to the public, though they still have staff available for adoption appointments.
