Ansco Lofts Developer May Consider Future Broome Projects
Broome County officials want Matthew Paulus to get involved in more redevelopment efforts following the completion of the Ansco Lofts project in Binghamton.
Paulus was at the former cigar and camera factory on Emma Street Wednesday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Dozens of elected officials and others involved in the $25 million project attended the formal event, which culminated in a ceremonial ribbon-cutting outside the building.
Residents began moving into the 100-unit complex last summer. The building has about 35,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor.
Broome County had taken over the property for back taxes. The redevelopment project was announced in August 2017.
County Executive Jason Garnar said he wants Paulus involved "on some other projects, too."
After the ceremony, Paulus expressed interest in pursuing additional work in the Binghamton area, although he declined to comment about specific projects he may have an interest in pursuing.
Paulus Development previously completed a similar project making an old Syracuse factory available for residential and commercial use.
