The company that owns Kmart and Sears says it plans to close 45 more Kmart and 51 Sears stores under bankruptcy reorganization and that means the loss of the Kmart store in Sidney in Delaware County.  That will be the end of the brand in the Twin Tiers as the Kmart in Towanda, Pennsylvania is nearing the conclusion of its inventory sell-off and is expected to be closed by the beginning of next month.

According to several financial and industry reports, over 250,000 jobs have been cut by the company over the last one-and-a-half decades as 3,500 Sears and Kmart stores have closed.

As with many retailers that have been around for decades, brick and mortar operations have been unable to keep up with digital sales.

Transformco acquired the retailers in bankruptcy reorganization.

The sell-off at the Sidney store is expected to start December second with the store closed by February.
