Congratulations to the Buffalo Bills for not only getting into the pro football wild card playoffs, but for winning the first game of what Bills fans have been longing for since 1995, and hopefully taking it all the way to the big game in February.

It got me thinking about the year 1995. I was trying to remember what was going on in my life, around our community, the country and the world that year. It may not seem like a long time ago, but for my memory, it seems that way, since I'm having a bit of trouble recalling what was going on in my life that year.

I do remember working at the same place I work now. I tend to hold onto my job for a long time. Maybe it's something I learned from my father and grandfather. Both of them worked at the same job for several decades before retiring.

According to Concert Archives, concerts at the Broome County Arena included Green Day on October 9th and Phish on December 14th.

As far as things that happened in 1995 in the sports world, The San Francisco 49ers won the big game over the San Diego Chargers. That was the fifth big game win for the 49ers at that time. In pro hockey, the New Jersey Devils won the cup over the Detroit Red Wings in four straight games. If you remember, that was a shortened hockey season due to the lock-out. And in October, the Atlanta Braves won the World Series over the Cleveland Indians taking the series in six games.

1995 was also the year of the Oklahoma City bombing. On April 19th, 168 people's lives were lost because of that senseless act. And in June of the year, we heard the line that became famous "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit' during the O.J. Simpson trial where in October of 1995, he was found not guilty of double murder.
