Your Vote Is Your Voice – Be Heard and Encourage Your Friends to Join You

It’s been said if you don’t like what's happening in the world around you that you should do something about it. So, what are you doing? Are you prepared to exercise your most basic American right?

Making a change to the way things are done on the government level doesn’t necessarily mean clogging up social media with political memes and improperly sourced articles because the average person will tell you that posts by someone with an opposing view generally only angers them rather than changes their mind.

What it means to do something about the political climate you’re not crazy about is to get in your car, hop on your bike, grab a bus, or lace up your sneakers and get yourself to the polls and make your voice heard by voting.

Encouraging those you to know actually go through with the action of placing a vote is one of the most powerful things that a person can do. Those who don’t vote and complain about the world around them have no leg to stand on because they didn’t even attempt to follow through with action and their words are simply hollow.

If you want your words to carry weight, there is only one way to make that happen. Vote. Be heard. A single vote can sway an entire election. If you think your single vote doesn’t matter, you would be grossly wrong.

On Tuesday, December 19, 2017, Shelly Simonds won a seat in the Virginia House of Delegates by one single vote. In 1839, Marcus “Landslide” Morton won the Massachusetts gubernatorial election by one vote. And here’s one that happened a little closer to home. In 1910, Charles B. Smith snuck by incumbent De Alva S. Alexander for Buffalo’s congressional district by, you guessed it, a single vote.

Republican. Democrat. Independent. Heck, even Birthday Party. Whatever your affiliation is, it doesn’t matter. What matters is standing up for what you feel in your heart is best for you, your family, your community, and your country and the easiest way to do that is to get yourself to the polls.
