To think that we are so lucky to live so close to a world renowned animal park and that we can take our kids there whenever we want is pretty incredible.

Over the years, friends from around the country have reached out to tell me about vacation plans to surprise their children and grandchildren with a visit to Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville.

Many only learned of the park by following the excitement that went viral of April the Giraffe and the live camera feeds which followed her through her pregnancy and subsequent births.

Sadly, when the doors of Animal Adventure Park opens later this month, the landscape will look much different without April the Giraffe. You see, at the recommendation of her veterinary team, April the Giraffe was euthanized as a result of her worsening arthritis on April 2, 2021.

Although an agonizing decision, it was what was best for the giraffe that the world has come to know, love, and obsessively follow and a piece of her will live on in the hearts of all who fell in love with April the Giraffe.

While April can no longer be visited at Animal Adventure Park, there are loads of other animals waiting for you and your family. Animal Adventure Park is home to over 300 animals, representing over 100 species including bears, hyenas, white lions, and yes, even some giraffes.

Animal Adventure Park will open on Wednesday, April 28.  Animal Adventure Park will be open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the last admission at 4:00 p.m.
