I was reading this story with a bunch of statics and the goal of the story was to let people know that we have irrational fears of wild animals and we shouldn't.

Here are some numbers to prove their point:

Since 2010, only 16 people in North America have been killed by bears, five have died from snake bites and five have died from shark attacks. Only thirteen people have been killed by alligators in the past decade. Three people have been killed by mountain lions in the past 20 years. And only two people have been killed by wolves in the last century.

On the other hand, four million people are bitten by dogs every year and 20 to 30 of them die.

Well I have a theory here...maybe the statics are so low because people DO have an irrational fear towards wild animals and try to stay far away!
