The residents of an Endwell house destroyed by a fast-moving fire are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The blaze quickly consumed the two-story structure at 3654 Watson Boulevard. The fire was reported around 5:15 p.m.

Several fire departments were on the scene for hours battling the inferno. Firefighters were called back early Friday morning when the blaze began to flare up again.

A Red Cross representative said the agency was providing emergency housing, food and clothing to three people who lived in the home.

Fire investigators believe the blaze originated in the lower portion of the house. It apparently started in a utility room adjacent to the garage. When a state trooper arrived, flames were shooting from the garage area.

Some nearby homes lost electricity for a time after a NYSEG crew shut off utility service to the burning structure.

WATCH firefighters work at the scene of the two-alarm blaze.
