There now is at least one confirmed COVID-19 case in the Vestal School District.

According to a news release issued Monday afternoon, the school district "received notification" of a confirmed case.

The statement did not indicate how or when the district was notified nor did it specify whether the case involved an employee or a student.

The school district statement said "close contacts have been identified." It also said the Broome County Health Department is in the process of contacting people who were exposed. The statement did not say how many individuals are believed to have been exposed.

Those who have been in contact with the confirmed case will be advised to quarantine for up to 14 days.
