Vestal Library Closed for Emergency Repair Work
Operations at the Vestal Public Library have been suspended until further notice while needed repairs are made.
The library on the Vestal Parkway was closed on Friday evening. A notice about the matter on the library's Facebook page did not indicate what prompted the action.
Library patrons said the fire department had been called to the facility because of a water-related issue. One woman said there previously had been problems with water that may have been linked to the weather.
Signs posted on the entrance doors stated the library would be closed on Monday. The signs indicated the library was expected to reopen on Tuesday "at the normal time."
The library last month instituted Sunday hours. People who showed up at the library on Sunday afternoon expressed disappointment by the closing.
