Emergency Services officials say at the height of complaints about illegal fireworks at around 9 Saturday night, they received a call about the shooting on Rano Boulevard.

Vestal Police say an 11-year-old girl at the home reportedly heard gunshots and found her mother, 52-year-old Dr. Marie Laure Jean-Jacques and sister, 17-year-old Lauren Ajax shot and step-father, Jean Guillaume holding a gun.

Authorities responding to the home found Dr. Jean-Jaques and Guillame critically wounded while Ajax was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 11-year-old was not injured.

Vestal Police say, while the investigation is continuing, it appears the family had a history of incidents of domestic abuse and there had apparently been an argument that preceded Guillame allegedly shooting his wife and step-daughter before turning the gun on himself.

At last report, Jean-Jaques was in critical condition and expected to survive while Guillame was on life-support.

Police praised the bravery of the 11-year-old who is currently receiving support of counselors and Broome County Social Services.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Vestal Police Detectives.
