Twin Tiers Honor Flights Prepare to Take Wing After Pandemic Pause
After being grounded due to the pandemic, the program that offers free flights from the Southern Tier to the Washington D.C. monuments for veterans is ready to take off.
The Twin Tiers Honor Flight has announced it will take wing with its tenth mission on September 15 with 75 veterans and their guests.
Broome County is contributing $25,000 to the non-profit.
The program gives preference to older veterans, World War Two and Korean conflict survivors and veterans who may be terminally ill and covers all expenses for the veterans. Companions accompanying the vets pay a small fee to cover their costs.
