31-year-old Serina Madden appeared for a pretrial hearing in the February 18, 2018 death of 10-year-old Belladonna Loke.

The child, who suffered from cerebral palsy, was found dead in a bed at the home of a relative where she, her mother and two siblings were living. Authorities said Serina Madden had moved from Georgia into the relative’s home on East Windsor Road the previous December.

A person at the home called authorities to report an unresponsive child and found Belladonna in a bedroom.

Authorities determined she had been dead for more than a day.

Madden was found by police with her two other children at Chuck E. Cheese in Vestal the day the girl’s body was reported to authorities. She was arrested in July and charged with felony counts of murder and manslaughter and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

Jury selection is tentatively set to begin July 22.
