Salvation Army Asks Everyone Touched to “Show Their Shield”
The work of the Salvation Army is being celebrated this week while everyone associated with the charity is asked to “Show Your Shield” May 15.
Participants wearing or displaying the red shield is encouraged to share their stories in person and on social media.
National Salvation Army Week, the second week of May, was first nationally proclaimed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954.
While serving host communities with a wide range of services, the Salvation Army is most known around the holiday season for their iconic red kettles and bell-ringers raising money for the needy.
