Town of Union Takes Suggestions for Spending Federal Development Funds
The Town of Union is holding a public hearing March 20 on how to spend Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall on East Main Street in Endwell.
CDBG money can be used for street reconstruction, parks, public services, housing rehabilitation, demolition and other projects.
The Town’s Planning Department is currently drawing up the new Annual Action Plan for the fiscal year covering 2019, which is the final year in the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan that had been previously approved by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development that identified needs in the community and outlined priorities.
Officials say while the Town is still lining up projects, it doesn’t know yet how much money will be available for October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020.
Information about the program is available under the Community Development section of the Town’s website: www.townofunion.com.
