Going to the gym can be intimating at times, which may be why many come up with excuses to skip it completely. 

A new study actually asked people what excuses they use to skip working out.

Here are the top responses:

1. 63% are afraid they'll hurt themselves. This one made me laugh. One time I fell off a machine at the gym but pretended like it didn't hurt. I was bruised for weeks!

2. 53% don't think they look good in workout clothes.

3. 50% think they'll wear the wrong thing. The only thing that I see at the gym that is "wrong" is jeans! Who wears jeans to workout?!

4. 46% say exercising in public gives them anxiety.

5. 38% are afraid of looking stupid working out in front of other people. I think 4 and 5 are pretty similar.

6. 30% don't know how to use the equipment. I am guilty of this. There are some equipment at the gym and I'd like to use it but am not sure how to. I think I may ask for help from one of the trainers the next time I go.

7. And 24% say they're not in good enough shape to be at the gym. Wait, what??
