Tips to Trick or Treat Safely With Your Kids
Halloween is here and to make sure every trick or treater has a safe and fun night, here are some tips to keep in mind when heading out.
-Never go into a strangers house or even ring the doorbell for treats unless your parents are with you.
-Only go to homes with the light on.
-Make sure your parents know where you are going and who you are going with.
-Keep track of trick or treaters with SecuraFone, a free app the updates your child's location every few minutes with GPS tracking. It also allows kids to send SOS text messages in case of emergencies.
-Be careful when crossing a street. Look in both directions and make sure there are no cars coming.
-If you're driving, make sure you have enough gas to get there. You don't want to run out on a dark street, all alone, like a bad horror movie!
-If you're given a curfew, be home at that time.
-Carry a flashlight. It gets dark early these days, and this helps drivers see you better on the road.
-Wear some reflective clothing or patches that will also improve visibility at night.
-Avoid costumes with long robes and capes that you can trip over.
-Don't eat candy while trick or treating. Wait until you get home so parents can go through it.
-Throwing eggs sounds like fun but it's not only a mess to clean up, it can get you arrested.
Mother Nature is playing tricks for Halloween. There's lots of rain that could cause flooding in central New York, just in time for trick or treating. There's also a High Wind Watch.
