Cortland County Sheriff’s officials say three people are facing charges after the vehicle they were in was stopped on Homer Avenue in the City of Cortland at 6:20 p.m. January 29.

49 year old Christopher Traina and 37 year old Candice Blanchard, both of McDonough, along with 40 year old Jeffrey Fowler of Cortland, are all charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.  Deputies say they found heroin and a hypodermic in the Chevrolet Silverado and no one in the pickup truck had a valid driver’s license.

In addition to two counts of misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, Traina is charged with felony promoting prison contraband, two counts of criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument and criminal impersonation.  Deputies say Traina was given the felony count when additional heroin was found in his possession while being processed at the Cortland County Jail.

Blanchard is additionally charged with two misdemeanor counts of criminally possessing a hypodermic, unauthorized wipers or sticker and aggravated unauthorized operation.

All three were eventually released to await their next appearance in Court.
