You might think that taking mom out for a meal (or picking up a meal to enjoy at home) is old hat, something only your mom and grandma enjoyed but you would be so wrong.

This (not quite but almost teetering on middle age) mom is so appreciative whenever my family is able to sit down to a meal that I don't have to shop for, prep, cook, or clean up after.

I love cooking and some of my favorite times with my husband and son have been when we've been hanging out in the kitchen, creating together. However, it takes a lot of planning and energy and sometimes it's nice to have someone else plan out, cook, and clean up after a meal.

If you're a wizard in the kitchen and are all about making mom a fancy meal on Mother's Day (and don't forget the clean-up), more power to you. But, if your culinary skills are limited to boxed mac and cheese and you want to step things up this year for mom, maybe consider taking her out to one of these local restaurants (but whatever you do, do not forget to make a reservation!).
