The Wait Continues for a Rep. for NY 22nd Congressional District
It’s going to be at least another week before a New York State Supreme Court judge could possibly issue a decision in the still-contested race for New York’s 22nd Congressional District.
Judge Scott Delconte is giving the Oneida County Board of Elections until the end of the day January 27 to review voter registrations that had been made through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles on time but not recorded by that county’s board of elections.
Incumbent Congressman Anthony Brindisi, the Democrat and Republican challenger and former Congresswoman Claudia Tenney are at odds over whether those affidavit votes should be counted.
On election night, Tenney looked ready to take her congressional seat back, leading by thousands of votes. That lead had been trimmed down to a couple dozen votes.
The contested Oneida County ballots number about 64 and poll watchers say it’s believed many of those voters lean Democratic.
