SUNY Broome Helps Healthcare Workers
SUNY Broome staff members are helping local healthcare workers with a donation of surplus Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). According to information from SUNY Broome various departments including STEM, Health Science, Facilities and Public Safety collected and have supplied 1,050 cup style masks, 750 surgical masks, 100 N95 masks and 150 gowns for local use by area health care workers.
In a release from SUNY Broome Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator Hans VanHouten said "When the call for donating items came from the EOC the campus community went into action." Investigator and Training Coordinator for Public Safety Marie Finelli said "We want to make sure we do what we can to help the community."
SUNY Broome officials remind the public that PPE items that could prove extremely valuable for healthcare workers can be dropped off at Broome County's collection site at the former Macy's location at the Oakdale Mall at the entrance across from Wegman's. Collection hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
