Campers and staff are being encouraged to get vaccinated to protect others who attend summer camps across the state. Some camps are making it mandatory.
According to News 10 ABC, The New York State Department of Health wants summer camps to require all campers and staff to have their vaccinations. Some camps are making it a requirement while others are trying to respect the rights of the campers.

The Director of the Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area says that they follow the guidelines from the Albany County Department of Health which doesn't require the campers and staff to have vaccinations. They do inform the parents but believe that they need to respect their rights.

However, in Monroe, NY, the owner of Rosmarins Day Camp made it a requirement for all campers and staff to have their immunizations since the outbreak of measles across the state.

Flyers for parents have been sent out by the New York State Department of Health on how to prevent and report outbreaks.
