A senior investigator for the New York State Police has been arrested following a two-car crash on Interstate 86.

Authorities say 53-year-old Randy Hugg was charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with the collision in the eastbound lanes of the highway in the town of Corning.

According to a state police news release, troopers were sent to investigate the personal injury crash around 9:15 p.m. Friday.

The release indicated Hugg was driving a vehicle that tried to pass another eastbound car. Hugg's vehicle struck the other car from behind.

Hugg was treated at a hospital for what were described as minor injuries. According to the news release, he was off duty at the time of the crash.

The occupants of the other vehicle were not hurt.

The news release was issued Monday. It did not report Hugg's blood alcohol content or any other details of the crash.
