Some Races Tighten and Flip in Local Post-Election Vote Count

Officials continue to count the absentee and affidavit ballots from the November 3 election.

The tight race between incumbent Democrat Congressman Anthony Brindisi and former Congresswoman, Republican Claudia Tenney is still unsettled.  While Broome County voters appear to strongly favor another term for Brindisi, there are eight counties in the district and Claudia Tenney appears to be retaining her election night lead in the contest.  Tens of thousand ballots remain to be tallied throughout the district.

Meanwhile, Fox 40 reports it appears Democrat challenger Karen Beebe has pulled ahead of Republican Incumbent Richard Balles in the Broome County Legislature’s 12 District by only 116 votes.

The report also puts Democrat Hollie Levine closing the gap on Republican former Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell for Family Court Judge with a surge in votes for Levine in the absentee count.  There are still over 14,000 votes to be counted.

The says Johnson City Trustee Ben Reynolds gathered enough absentee ballots to give him another term after trailing Republican challenger Gregory Saroka by about fifty votes on election night.
