Instead of closing part of Route 414 in Leroy Township December 7, the road had to be hastily closed December 3 near the intersection with Jennings Road.

PennDOT took bids for fixing the problem back in September and was keeping an eye of the movement of the slide.  Over the weekend, an increase in the pace of the slide prompted authorities to opt to close the section of road sooner.

The detour will use Route 3005 (Canton Cross Road), Route 3008 (Southside Road) and Route 414.

PennDOT says updates will be provided as work progresses.
