New York State Senator Fred Akshar is asking local residents what they think about legislation to outlaw so-called “bump stock” devices that allowed the Las Vegas gunman to make semi-automatic weapons function similar to fully automatic weapons.

The online survey is available at Akshar.NYSenate.gov.

The Republican says he prefers to approach residents directly on issues facing the community.

Bump stock devices are legal to sell, possess and purchase but it is illegal to attach the devices to semi-automatic weapons in New York State.
