The meeting about the 434 Greenway project will start with an Open House at 5:30 p.m. on the 28th at MacArthur School followed by a formal presentation and public comments.

The Greenway project calls for construction of a 2.5 mile shared-use pedestrian and bicycle path along the south side of State Route 434 in Binghamton and the Town of Vestal near Binghamton University.

Connections that are under consideration include Vestal Avenue at MacArthur Park, Ivanhoe Road and the intersection of Vestal Road and the Vestal Parkway.

Some residents have expressed some concerns regarding safety and an increase in foot and bicycle traffic in neighborhoods.

The D.O.T. says its hoped the first phase of construction could begin late this year.

There is discussion of eventually having a trail connection from the Binghamton Promenade riverwalk to the Vestal Rail Trail.
