One of the most popular online games is Fortnite. My nephews play this game all the time and so do millions of others...it can be addictive...so addictive, that the makers of Fortnite are being sued!

According to WIVB, a Canadian law firm has filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the parents of two children who are allegedly addicted to Fortnite.

The law firm Calex Légal compares Fortnite to "cocaine" or "tobacco"."

They claim that Epic Games (Fortnite creator), “knowingly put on the market a very, very addictive game which was also geared toward youth.”

The parents are claiming the game causes the brain to release dopamine, similarly to an actual drug, which causes a chemical release and results in an addiction.

Basically, the lawsuit states Epic Games knew that Fortnite was “dangerously addictive” and didn't warn players of the risk.

What's interesting is that Fornite includes a waiver that prevents people from participating in a class-action lawsuit, but the law firm says that in Quebec it would be negated by the Consumer Protection Act, which requires companies to warn customers about potential risks, like addiction.

So, what do you think? Do parents have a right to sue Fornite for being "too addictive?"
