New York has extended the deadline for filing lawsuits on sexual abuse claims that occurred during childhood according to Governor Cuomo's office. The original statue of limitations was to expire August 14 but will now end August 14 of 2021. The extension is due to the coronavirus outbreak which officials say impeded the filing of lawsuits by the original deadline. The Child Victims Act removed the one-year statute of limitations for filing child sexual abuse lawsuits.
