Kathy Hochul says she wants to make a few things clear: there is only one Governor in New York and that’s Andrew Cuomo until she takes office on August 24, there will be no place in her administration for anyone implicated of unethical behavior in the Cuomo investigation and her administration will never harbor a toxic work environment.

The incoming Governor addressed the state and reporters August 11, one day after Governor Andrew Cuomo, implicated on sexual harassment and intimidation claims announced he would resign in two weeks.

The Western New York Moderate Democrat has been serving for the past several years as the state head of the Regional Economic Development Councils and is widely seen as a force that understands parts of the state outside of New York City.

Hochul deflected a question from a cable news reporter about a possible pardon for the current governor saying it was too early to discuss that issue but later told a major network she has no plans for a pardon for the embattled governor.

Hochul said during her afternoon address that it was no secret that she was not close to Governor Cuomo physically or otherwise, spending most of her time traveling the state.

The Buffalo-area native was pressed, not for the first time in the day after Cuomo announced his resignation, about if she would be choosing someone from the Downstate area to be her lieutenant governor.  Hochul demurely replied she was looking at several candidates as her selection would be someone people would recognize.
