New York State Police Caution About Card Skimmers in the Region

Authorities are looking for a man and a woman in connection with credit card skimming in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier areas.

New York State Police say the pair is believed to have unlawfully gained information on real credit cards to create fake ones which they used to buy things at the Walmart stores in Watkins Glen and Painted Post in September.

The suspects are white and appear to be in their 20s or 30s.

Residents are cautioned to protect the information on their credit cards while steps are continuing to improve security at the scanners at retail outlets and banks to keep criminals from obtaining information from cards that had just been used in the devices.
