The Broome County Public Library has a new person in charge and he's looking forward to finding out what services people want offered in the future.

37-year-old Josias Bartram started work as the director of the library on Court Street in downtown Binghamton in late September.

Bartram, who grew up in upstate New York, most recently worked as a librarian at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Bartram said an online survey is being conducted to ascertain what people want the Broome County library to offer in the future. He said he's particularly interested in hearing from people who currently don't utilize the library to find out what they want.

Bartram said libraries across the country are changing and adapting to provide the services residents need.

Bartram noted the library now has returned to curbside procedures because of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the area. That means the library building will not be open to the public through at least October 16.
