Drug overdoses continue in the aftermath of the declaration of a "State of Emergency" in Broome County following a series of fentanyl-related deaths.

Two more fatal drug overdoses have been confirmed since the emergency was declared by County Executive Jason Garnar two weeks ago. One death was in Binghamton and the other was in the Town of Union.

Broome County District Attorney Stephen Cornwell said his office is investigating all overdose scenes as potential crime scenes.

Steps are being taken to identify the sources of the fentanyl that's been showing up in Broome County.

Fentanyl sales are being made the top priority by investigators and prosecutors in the county.

Although fentanyl has frequently been detected in heroin, county officials say it also has been found mixed with cocaine.

Public service announcements now are being aired on Binghamton-area radio and television stations alerting residents to the emergency.

The announcements advise people to call 211 for resources and treatment options.

The Office of Emergency Services is considering placing kits containing the overdose reversal drug naloxone in county buildings.
