Meet The Binghamton Native Who Had A Hat Trick For The Black Bears
The newest professional hockey team in town is the Binghamton Black Bears and if you haven't been to the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena, then you should for many reasons.
1) They are exciting to watch as they score around four goals a game (which means a free cheeseburger) and they aren't afraid to mix it up on the ice.
2) I host Chuck-a-Puck between the 2nd and 3rd period and someone will win a 2020 CFMoto at the end of the year. Okay, that's not a great reason but number 3 is.
3) The Black Bears have local talent on the team that contributes to the team's success.
Binghamton Black Bears Geno DeAngelo
Silly (Danbury) rabbits, hat tricks are for Black Bears. DeAngelo has been a delight to watch but he's not the only local product to prowl around the ice for Binghamton.
Geno DeAngelo.is the #95 forward from Binghamton and has been a major factor for the team this year. On Friday, January 14th, he scored a hat trick against the Danbury Hat Tricks and lead the team to an 8-3 win.
Binghamton Black Bears M.J. Maerkl
M.J. Maerkl is also from Binghamton and # 40 plays defense for the team. His career includes a stint with the Wikes-Barre Miners in the NSHL and was Defenseman of the Year and a first-team All-Star. He has 52 penalty minutes with the Black Bears, so you don't mess with Maerkl.
Binghamton Black Bears Gavin Abbott
Gavin Abbott is a left-handed shooting 6'2" forward (#6) from Binghamton and has played 14 games this year with 2 goals and 1 assist.
By the way, you'll have a chance to see them in action this weekend at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena when Delaware comes calling on Friday, January 21st and the Hat Tricks return for a Saturday, January 22nd rematch.
Face-off is at 7:05 both nights and I'll be hosting Chuck-a-Puck between the 2nd and 3rd periods. Here is your chance to Support Local and LET'S GO BLACK BEARS!
