The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office has a new recruit who is a native of Hungary.  The Department’s new police dog, “Edge” was sworn in this week, joining the Sheriff’s office K9 Division.

grant from the New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and is paired with School Resource Deputy, Corporal Jeff Clark.

Edge is to start training immediately to specialize in explosives detection, patrol and tracking.

Edge is named after former Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Erastus Edgerton who was with the department in 1845 when he helped preserve order during anti-rent wars in Andes where his horse was shot from under him and another officer was shot and killed.
