The operator of a Saratoga County limousine company has been arrested in connection with the Schoharie crash in which 20 people were killed.

Authorities say Nauman Hussain was taken into custody Wednesday following a "controlled traffic stop" on Interstate 787. He has been charged with criminally negligent homicide.

According to New York State Police, Hussain is the operator of Prestige Limousine, a small firm that had offices in a town of Wilton motel.

Hussain is the son of Shahed Hussain, who is the owner of the limo company. Shahed Hussain reportedly has served as an undercover FBI informant in the past.

A 2001 Ford Excursion stretch limousine operated by Prestige went through a stop sign at an intersection in Schoharie Saturday. All 18 people in the limo and two pedestrians in a store parking lot were killed.

State officials have said the limo previously had failed a Department of Transportation inspection and should not have been on the road.
