Labor Day Weekend Recoup
After celebrating certain holidays for so many years, some of us forget the true meaning of the holiday and why we take time off to recognize it! The original purpose/meaning for Labor Day was a means of unifying union workers and a reduction in work time in the late 1800's. However, the weekend has become about barbecues, family, friends & marking the end of summer!
If you're anything like me, this weekend means camping, drinking, and a signal that winter will soon be approaching. While we may have forgotten the meaning of Labor Day, many of us still party hard during the weekend.
Here's a few ways you can recoup from your king weekend of partying!
- Drink less during the week or cut out alcohol completely
Drink water lots of water, about two-8 oz. glasses of water four times a day to keep well hydrated! Your body could probably use the break from alcohol (or just a time-out!!) - Eat fiber
If your weekend was full of heavy sauces and desserts (like most of these weekends are) cut out all processed food and fast food! Eat high-fiber carbs like oats, brown rice, sweet potatoes, and quinoa. Also, choose plain grilled chicken or fish and try eating your veggies steamed or roasted. - Exercise
Don’t think: “Well, I was already so bad. Might as well take the rest of the week off.” Think of this as a new start and get back to your workout routine!
I know the few days after a long weekend can be tough, but just follow these steps and you should be good in no time!
