Let’s Face It: Kendall Jenner Isn’t Just ‘Private,’ She’s Boring
Kendall Jenner has long held reputation as the most "private" member of the Kar-Jenner clan, a shy black sheep in a family of shameless oversharers. As she's grown from awkward pre-teen to über busy young adult, her presence on their flagship reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, has waned, and she's notoriously tight-lipped about the details of her personal life, even when her fame is near-contingent upon serving it up for public consumption. But over 10 years into the Kar-Jenner's pop culture reign, it's time we start asking ourselves: Is Kendall really that "private," or is she just flat out boring?
In a new interview with Vogue, the realty star turned supermodel gets "candid" about her "career," "controversies," and "private life" — or at least, so says the headline. The meatiest bit comes about one third of the way through, when she slyly (but not officially) confirms her relationship with basketball player Blake Griffin, something that, if you pay attention to tabloids, is really not all that secret.
The rest of the article — a day-in-the-life style profile — is a rather banal glimpse into her life at home. She rides horses, she believes in giving back, but not bragging about it, and she plays mom to her drunk friends. Like much of the rest of America, she's deflated by the seemingly endless wave of negative news, and finds the #MeToo movement "inspring" (What a concept!). Even when she seems to say a lot, she actually isn't saying much at all, like when she was asked about the rumors that she's gay.
"I don’t think I have a bisexual or gay bone in my body, but I don’t know! Who knows?! I’m all down for experience—not against it whatsoever—but I’ve never been there before," Kendall explained. “Also, I know I have kind of a . . . male energy? But I don’t want to say that wrong, because I’m not transgender or anything. But I have a tough energy. I move differently. But to answer your question: I’m not gay. I have literally nothing to hide."
A simple "no" would have sufficed; it's not offensive to be straight.
Despite being a mega-rich, mega-successful celebrity, Kendall insists she's just a "normal-ass" kid. And you know what? Maybe she's right. Aside from her flashy vintage car collection, the most interesting thing about her is that she just so happens to be part of one of the most famous families in the world, a fact that sometimes comes with the drama-kindling hassle of paparazzi and stalkers and way-too-crazed fans.
At the end of the day, she's just a basic millennial with a figurative megaphone and nothing, really, to say with it.
