Prosecutors say a Broome County resident has admitted he secretly recorded a child engaged in sexual acts and distributed the material over the internet.

47-year-old Michael Rushmer of Johnson City has pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child. He also entered guilty pleas to counts of distribution and possession of child pornography.

Rushmer was arrested at his home in March 2018 by FBI agents and Johnson City police.

In entering his plea, Rushmer admitted he possessed hundreds of images and videos of child pornography, some of which included children under the age of 12.

According to prosecutors, Rushmer faces a sentence of at least 15 years to as much as 30 years in prison for the sexual exploitation count. He could be sentenced to additional time for the other two counts.

Sentencing has been scheduled for December 17.
