The Business Council of New York State, Inc. has started their tournament-style competition finding the coolest thing made in New York State. Products like Raymond High Capacity Orderpicker and the Energy Catalyst Double Hybrid Heat Pump are all made in the Empire State.

Now, these NY-made products are going head-to-head to be dubbed "The Coolest." And there's good news, a Hudson Valley made product has made the nominee list!

Dutchess County Nonprofit Helps Women End The Addiction Relapse Cycle

Unshattered is a nonprofit organization located in Wappingers Falls, New York whose mission is to "End the addiction relapse cycle by providing pathways toward economic independence and sustained sobriety."

Unshattered has created a  "community of like-minded women" and they do that by providing full-time employment for women in recovery. The women who work at Unshattered make premium sustainable handbags that are made of upcycled materials.

They use the interiors of luxury cars and airplane seats to make gorgeous bags all while giving women who suffered from addiction and trauma a chance to thrive.

The organization has received the spotlight in recent years, as Founder and CEO Kelly Lyndgaard appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show during Clarkson's "Rad Human" segment.

The Kelly Clarkson Show awarded Lyndgaard and Unshattered a $100,000 grant.

Wappingers Falls, NY Product Could be The "Coolest Thing Made in NY"

The Business Council of New York State, Inc. is holding an online competition putting the coolest things made in New York State up against one another.

And it looks like a bag from Unshattered made the cut. On the Unshattered Facebook page, they write "We are thrilled to share that we've advanced to the next round of the Coolest Thing Made in New York competition by The Business Council of New York State, Inc. !!"

The Upcycled Dress Gray Errand Bag from Unshattered is up against Cabot Pepper Jack Cheese. Voting is live until Sunday, August 11th. You can vote daily at MadeinNY.org.

One Unshattered supporter pointed out in the comment section that Cabot cheese is produced in Vermont, however, Unshattered explained " heir specific cheese that we are up against is made in NY."
