Tex-Mex Restaurant Planned at Former Binghamton Dos Rios Site
A vacant space on Court Street in downtown Binghamton will be occupied soon by a new Tex-Mex fusion restaurant.
Iron Agave is expected to open in November at the 60 Court Street site of the former Dos Rios Cantina.
The new eatery is being developed by the the group that has operated Food & Fire BBQ Taphouse in Johnson City for nearly a decade.
Dan Polhamus, Jose Moreira and Jeff Tiderencel are partners in the venture.
The partners hope the new restaurant will become a "vibrant culinary destination" that will "captivate the taste buds and ignite the senses."
Polhamus told WNBF News he and his partners have been looking for opportunities to develop a business in downtown Binghamton for years.
Iron Agave will have a "high-end tequila bar and handcrafted cocktails" to accompany the Tex-Mex menu. The place also will feature live music and special themed nights.
Polhamus said "we just love the idea of bringing jobs, bringing a new vibe and just being involved" with the downtown area.
The Iron Agave partners expect to hire about 50 people for the new business.
Dos Rios Cantina ceased operations at the site in April 2022.
Developer Mark Yonaty is preparing to open a new sports bar next to the future Iron Agave restaurant next month. Yonaty has said he hopes the Courtside Bar and Grill will begin operating by the end of September.
