Teen Murder Suspect Taken into Custody in the Town of Union New York
According to the Broome County Sheriff's Office, a teenager wanted in connection with a double homicide has been captured.
On December 29, 2023, acting on information from the United States Marshal's Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Southern Tier SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the Town of Union for a 17-year-old male, who was wanted in connection with a double homicide that occurred in December 2023 in Mount Holly, North Carolina.
Broome County Sheriff’s investigators were led to 122 Pierce Avenue in the Town of Union on a tip where they believed the fugitive was.
Due to the location of the fugitive and the nature of the charges, the Broome County Sheriff's Department reported that a Broome County Court Judge granted a search warrant for that location for the Southern Tier SWAT Team to search the property.
The tennager was successfully taken into custody without incident.
Congratulations once again to our investigators and our partners at the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office and the Endicott Police Department. Thanks to their tireless work, dedication and professionalism, this suspected murderer is now off the streets and brought to justice. - Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar
The Southern Tier SWAT team is comprised of members from the Broome County Sheriff's Office, Chenango County Sheriff's Office, and the Endicott Police, who all assisted in the warrant execution.
