New Use Revealed for Old CVS Store in Johnson City
Renovation work is underway at a former CVS Pharmacy building on Main Street in Johnson City.
The Rhode Island-based company closed its store near Wilson Medical Center over a year ago.
Crews recently started working to empty what was left in the vacant building and to make some infrastructure changes outside the structure.
United Health Services will use the 10,000-square-foot building as the new location for its retail pharmacy near Wilson Medical Center.
It will replace a much-smaller nearby facility now operated at Wilson Square at 52 Harrison Street.
UHS spokesperson Carrie Davis said the new retail and specialty pharmacy will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The location is just northwest of a massive addition being constructed at the hospital.
The new pharmacy will have a drive-thru pickup window. It will be open to the public.
The facility also is expected to be used by UHS as a vaccination center. It's expected to open early next year.
