New Senior Housing Coming To Vestal New York
From the Broome County Executive Office of Jason Garner, on Thursday, March 9, 2024, plans for a new apartment complex in Vestal, New York were announced.
The new Vestal Chateau Apartments are being built at 2040 State Route 26 in Vestal and are expected to be completed in late April.
When completed, the Chateau Apartment complex will consist of 30 units, with 20 being one-bedroom apartments and 10 two-bedroom complexes. These apartments are being designed for affordable senior housing.
According to the announcement, rent will fall in the $529 to $768 range per month, including heat, water, and sewer expenses. Each apartment will offer energy-efficient heating systems, plus accessibility features for individuals with mobility, hearing, and visual impairments.

Seven of the apartments will be specifically for mobility-impaired individuals, two for those with hearing/vision impairments, and five for fragile elderly seniors. Ground-floor units are adaptable for wheelchair accessibility.
The First Ward Action Council is currently accepting applications. Interested persons can request an application by contacting the First Ward Action Council at 607-772-2850 or fwac-rental@firstwardaction.org.
Once the application is complete, it needs to be submitted one of three ways - by mail, faxed to 607-231-28119, or by visiting the First Ward Action Council which is located at 167 Clinton Street, Binghamton, New York
The application deadline is March 29, 2024. The First Ward Action Council will hold a lottery for tenancy on April 12, 2024.
