FBI Joins Aliza Spencer Homicide Investigation in Binghamton
Binghamton police say the FBI and New York State Police are now providing assistance in the investigation into the April 2022 death of 12-year-old Aliza Spencer.
In a news release issued on Friday, city police detective Captain Cory Minor said authorities are "once again calling on anyone with information to share what they know" with investigators.
Aliza was shot in the chest around 10 p.m. on April 21, 2022 as she walked with her father and brother near their home on Bigelow Street on Binghamton's East Side. She was a sixth-grade student at East Middle School.
Minor said investigators are "continuing to work new leads." He said "any knowledge of what happened that night could lead to a break-through in the case."
In Friday's news release, Mayor Jared Kraham said the "involvement of the FBI means support from the top federal investigative agency and access to cutting-edge technology" to help city police.
A $32,000 reward is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest in the Aliza Spencer investigation.
People with information about the case may contact the Binghamton police department detective division at (607) 772-7080.
