Tuesday December 12th, 2023, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced $479 million in grants for critical water infrastructure projects which included the first funding awarded through the $4.2 billion Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022.

This act was passed by New York State voters after Governor Hochul pushed to increase the total amount by $1 billion immediately upon taking office.

According to the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation and the Village of Endicott, a NYS Water Infrastructure Improvement Act (WIIA) Grant for over $200,000 has been awarded to the Village of Endicott

The grant was awarded as part of a requirement by New York State to develop a Flow Management Plan. The news release notes that the plan would establish a schedule for the Village and communities with flows contributing to the Endicott Waste Water Treatment Plant.

I really appreciate all that Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and Senator Leah Webb have done for the Village. I look forward to continue working with them for the future of Endicott. - Village of Endicott Mayor Linda Jackson

The project is the 2nd phase of the manhole and sewer rehabilitation and removal of municipally owned storm water connections to sanitary sewers. The New York State Environmental Corporation notes that the goal of the project is to rehabilitate defects that have been identified in the Village of Endicott Water Infrastructure Improvement Act.

I’d like to congratulate the Village of Endicott on being awarded this important water infrastructure improvement grant. Upgrading their sewage system and storm water connections will make a big difference in the future growth of the Village. I know how hard they have worked to upgrade their infrastructure in order to better serve area residents. Thank you to the Governor and to the Environmental Facilities Corporation for continuing to prioritize funding for communities like ours. - Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo

In addition, the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation grant will help enable future growth within the village and neighboring communities and it will allow the  Endicott Waste Water Treatment Plant to serve more people, businesses and industries.
