Car Crashes at Route 17 On-Ramp After Binghamton Shooting
One person was hurt when a car crashed at an entrance ramp to Route 17 in Binghamton after someone fired gunshots at the vehicle.
The incident occurred late Friday night at the expressway on-ramp off Prospect Street in the First Ward.
A car with four occupants crashed at the Route 17 entrance early Saturday morning. The person who called for help said the crash was caused by a shooting.
One of those in the vehicle sustained minor injuries from the crash and was taken to a hospital for treatment. No one was reported hurt as a result of the gunshots.
A woman who was staying at a residence on Valley View Drive, a short distance south of the Ely Park Golf Course, called 911 to report what sounded like three gunshots "very close" to the home.
A resident of Holland Street reported hearing a series of "booms" around the time of the shooting.
Binghamton police detective Captain Cory Minor said the investigation into the incident is continuing and no one has been charged. He said the shooting was not a random event.
